Glass feeders
Gob feeder is a part of automatic container glass production line and is designed to regulate temperature of molten glass and its dosing in gobs. The feeder is designed for middle- and high-capacity production of container glass.
Homogenous conditioning and fixed delivery of the molten glass is secured by the molten glass channel. The channel is dimensioned accordingly to the requirement of the molten glass capacity in tons
In specific range, the operator is able to influent the technology of the gob because of the electronic control of servo drives of the feeder mechanisms. The servo drive feeder mechanism allows to affect the motion of the shears and of the plunger.
DS-P3-3 description
The feeder is delivered in SG and DG operating modes. The pitch between gobs is 76mm or 111m. The feeder could be delivered with revolving tube or with fixed tube with stirrer elements.
Main components of the machine:
Channel and head of the feeder mechanism
The channel of the feeder consists of the bearing steelwork with ceramic lining. The firing system is secured by the set of the burners that are evenly placed to both sides of the channel and to perimeter of the feeder head. The burners are positioned to independently regulated sections.
Drive of the mechanisms
The mechanism is driven by servo drives that are electronically connected to the forming line drive. Speed of feeding and time spread between the plunger and the shears is set up on the control computer of the forming line.
Plunger mechanism
Obtains rectilinear reciprocating and regular motion of the plunger of required course. By means of the compound lever the motion of the plunger is made by electronic cam. Compound lever allows smooth change of plungers stroke, change of plungers lower position, possibly plungers motion shutdown. Course of the plunger stroke can be electronically changed from the control computer of the forming machine. Motion up is guided and controlled by the cam. Motion down is controlled by the cam, but the motive power is gravitational weight of the mechanism and power of the pneumatic cylinder. The pneumatic cylinder is used as well as protection when higher resistance of the plunger (e.g. when foreign matter in delivery outlet).
Shears mechanism
The motion of the lever shears is mechanical controlled by the shears cam. Motion of the shears arms is secured by the pneumatic cylinder, which is used as well as protection when congestion, in case there is some big resistance against the shear (e.g. stone in molten glass). When electricity supply cut, the shears open automatically - through the blocking pneumatic cylinder.
There are the gob delivery chutes arms on the shears arms with upper knifes. Delivery chutes can be adjusted in direction to the gob and in vertical direction.
On the mechanism is in operation possible to adjust overshears size, down pressure between knifes and height of the shear plane. There is the inductive sensor of the knifes shear. The signal from the inductive sensor is used to synchronize the forming machine with the gob feeder. Cooling of the knifes is in operation made by the intermittent air flow and the cooling emulsion.
Tube mechanism
The tube is designed to regulate the molten glass outflow and so to regulate the gob weight (eventually to close molten glass outflow - e.g. when orifice ring change). From this reason the tube is smooth height-adjustable. Height-adjusting is made mechanically, manually or, according to the customers wish, the servo-driving can be delivered. This servo-driving is connected to the regulation system of the gob weight. There can be used both rotary and fixed tubes, completed with stirring segments that rotate outside the tube.
Because of the rotary tube the thermal homogeneity of molten glass in feeder head is better (it mixes molten glass). Rotation of the tube is driven by electromotor. It is possible to change smoothly the sense of rotation and the number of rev. The bearing, that is used to bear the tube is cooled by the compressed air. The electromotors' motion is transmit through the shaft and through the angel, geared transmission. The mechanism is located on the supporting arm with the lifting mechanism on the left side of the head (viewed from the front).
The fixed tube has no rotary motion and is situated on the arm with the lifting mechanism on the right side of the head. The thermal homogeneity of the molten glass is obtained by the stirring segments.
Stirring segments
The stirring segments are used only with the fixed tube installation. They mix molten glass on the outside circumference of the tube. The segments are placed in the bearing that is cooled by compressed air. The segments drive is the same one as the rotary tube has.
